The Argonaut is our signature body shape at Q.E.D. We designed it for the finger style player seeking the fast attack of a small waist with the volume and timbre of a large lower bout. Using the golden ratio, we designed the lower bout to be a perfect semi-circle centered at the bridge and the upper bout to be proportionately smaller to balance the tonal scale. With playability being a major factor we also incorporated a Florentine cutaway to give greater access to the upper octaves. The Argonaut uses a pinless bridge like our Orchestra model. Using a sandwich of mastergrade veneers and Nomex combined with integrated carbon fiber tone bars, this top is twice as stong and weighs half as much as a typical solid soundboard. The soundboard is the distinguishing "unseen" factor of this guitar.

The standard build options for the Argonaut are as follows:

  • Back and Sides – East Indian Rosewood
  • Soundboard – Redwood or Cedar
  • Neck – Laminated Mahogany, dual action truss rod and carbon fiber
  • Neck Joint – Bolt-on mortis and tenon
  • Bindings – Curly flamed Maple with black Purflings
  • Bridge – East Indian Rosewood or Ebony
  • Fret Board – Ebony
  • Headstock – Ebony
  • Tuning Machines – Gotoh Premium Tuners

The basic Argonaut cost is $5,500.00 with other build options available.
